keep 50 years of dc home rule

protect
dc autonomy

Project 2025 is coming.  Congress wants more control over DC’s laws and budget.
We are 700,000 residents without representation in Congress.
We cannot be without representation on the local level!!!

What IS DC Home Rule?

DC Home Rule allows our 700,000 residents to elect a Mayor and Council and enact legislation directly affecting our individual rights and financial interests.

What Happens if Congress Takes ALL Control?

If Congress revokes DC Home Rule then Congress will control all of our tax revenue and be in charge of all District legislation.  We will have NO say at the federal OR local level!

How Do We Protect Our Rights?

Help us determine the necessary steps to make sure we have a voice on everyday rules which affect our lives.

No Home Rule -
NO Individual Rights!

We have NO representation in Congress!
We must not lose Local Autonomy!
Don't let Project 2025 take our individual rights!

DC has had over 50 years of local ‘Home Rule.’ This Act allows the District of Columbia to pass local laws on “all rightful subjects of legislation within the District.”
Because of the Home Rule Act, DC Citizens may elect a Mayor and council.
The Mayor oversees implementing local laws and the management of municipal agency personnel.
The council may pass acts and resolutions on DC issues specific to its 700,000 residents.
Local matters that could be affected if Home Rule was revoked and the new Congress oversaw our local issues include:

How Could DC Home Rule Disappear?

It may be easier than you think!

Trump has repeatedly referred to DC as a “filthy and crime-ridden embarrassment”. Trump has repeatedly vowed to “take over” DC.  He has said, “an important part of my platform for president is to bring back, restore, and rebuild Washington, D.C.”  “I wouldn’t ever call the mayor.”
Unfortunately, Congress can rescind DC Home rule upon a simple majority vote.
Even without a vote, Congress and the Executive have automatic authority to:

DC Residents Pay More Into the Federal Government than Twenty Two Other States!

DC Residents Have NO Representation!

Start Working to Protect Home Rule Now!

You Have a Voice, and It is Critical to the Cause!

We all call DC home but we have friends and relatives across the nation.  We must call on contacts near and far to lobby Congress to protect DC Home Rule.
This issue is not about who decides if people can turn right on red!  This is an issue about self-governance – the foundational issue America was built on.
DC is a city with a lot to be proud of.  DC gives more money to the federal government in taxes than TWENTY-TWO other states!
We have thriving schools, protection of individual rights, a democratic system that allows for a council and ANC representatives, a safe environment, budget surplus, and consistent growth.
For this administration to take over local rule of 700,000 people without any consultation with local authorities is an abdication of fundamental freedom and fairness.
This should concern EVERY American!
